Friends of Connetquot Accomplishments
Since forming the Friends of Connetquot, the Friends have accomplished the following:
Formed Friends of Connetquot in 1998 to prevent the NYS from turning it into a Bed & Breakfast
Acquired the South Side Sportsmen’s Club Archive
Commissioned the Replication of 4 Historic Rocking Chairs (Circa 1870) displayed in the Billiard Room
Secured grants for the
Mill Restoration
Secured grants for the
Hatchery Renovation and Reopening of the Historic (Circa 1890) Trout Hatchery
, where fishing has resumed.
Restored the Kitchen, Lady’s Dining Room, Men’s Dining Room, Billiard Room, and a Period Bedroom
Commissioned a Fire Safety Study, Federal Grant and Supervised Installation of Fire Suppression System in Main Building
Subsidized and Secured Funding for Interpretive Signs for the Trails and the Hatchery
Returned Eliphalet Snedecor’s Portrait to the Main Building From the Town of Islip
Developed and Installed the First
Self-guided Mobile Device Tour
(OnCell Program) to be Offered in a New York State Park
Installed Two Turtle-Viewing Rafts and Signage
Scholarship Program

Commissioned and Completed a Complete Architectural Study and Plans for Refurbishing the Historic Circa 1870 Icehouse
Located, obtained and returned the old Franklin Stove from the Smithsonian back to the Billiard Room.
